Facinus is were we got the word fascination. A roman god, the embodiment of the divine phallus, He was worshipped as the protector from sorcery, witchcraft, envy and the evil eye. He was invoked to call upon divine protection for woman in childbirth and their children. He is depicted in phallic form, often winged, and is a symbol of good luck, fortune, fertility, prosperity and protection.

About the Artist:

A Little Bit About Myself

xxxHello, and think you for stopping by. My name is Harold, but my friends call me Harry. From 1984 to 2010, I use to be a Rocket Scientist working on the Space Shuttle, but know I am a full-time artist living in Central Florida with my three kitties: Tyler, Stormy and Luna; all having once been abandoned.

xxxI started drawing by the age of six and began painting with acrylics by seventeen. I have created illustration work for publications, painted billboards and created posters during my school years; designed T-shirts and team patches for different departments out at the Kennedy Space Center; created and sold greeting cards and have been hired to do commission work for various patrons.

xxxMost of my time is spent drawing or painting. When I’m not creating art, I make appearances at art conventions; exhibitions and gallery openings were I also sell my work. Occasionally, I take vacations and spend time with family and friends. I love reading books and going to the movies: Sci-fi, fantasy, history, science and drama; listening to music and travels to interesting places. At present, I am the President of the Orlando Art Collective, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to bringing artists together to teach, learn and share ideas.

xxxAs you can tell, the majority of my work centers on the male form. I find it to be the perfect expose to express my ideas. As a young gay man, of the late baby-boomer generation, I have experienced the daily suppression of ones feelings and the fear of being Outed. Art became the perfect escape mechanism from this harsh reality.

xxxSurprisingly, what has become more difficult is the sharing of my male figurative art to the world. As hard as it may be to believe, male representation in art is frowned upon in many circles, severally regulated or outright banned in others. It seems that exhibiting a fully nude male body, especially one with a penis, sets some peoples hair on fire. Art of this genre is often falsely accused of being pornography or is negatively stereotyped as “gay-art”. This kind of labeling, even within the gay community, undercuts the significance of male representation in art and prejudices the viewer. Still, I consider it a personal challenge to get my work out to as many people as possible, so that it can be seen for what it is: as one human beings expression of life.

All of my artwork is hand-painted using high quality acrylic paints on wood, panel or canvas. The method I use to get that realistic effect is an old masters technique called Glazing and Scumbling. This process applies different layers of color, one on top of the other, in a way that lets these layers show through, giving the work greater depth.

I enjoy painting images that are bold and colorful. I also love working in black and white or combining black and white images with colored backgrounds. I often use symbolism, candidly or covertly, to express multiple meanings.

Sunrise Surfer
Having grown up along the Space Coast of Florida surfing was a big part of my life. Even though I was more of a body surfer then a board surfer, I still loved the grace and beauty of the sport, not to mention the fit bodies of these guys. Brotherly Love

This style of painting is a little out of the ordinary for me but this one has been on my mind for sometime now.

Because of society standards our Fairy Tales, especially the ones about love between two people, are always heterosexual. However, we all know that in those times there was love between men as well. A love that was just as strong, just as passionate and just as true.

This is my homage to our ancient brothers whose love stories we will never know.

Jack Returns
When I was a boy, I would always crying whenever I heard the Puff the Magic Dragon song. Hell, it still makes me cry when I hear it! The idea that poor Puff would be left alone without Jackie Paper to play with anymore was just too painful to think about. So in my painting "Jack Returns" I have created an alternate ending to this sad-sad story.

All orders are shipped USPS standard shipping; Orders within he U.S.take approximately 3-10 days to arrive.

All paper prints are shipped in a solid shipping tube that is nearly indestructible.

All canvas prints are boxed and shipped "without a frame"

All original works of art are boxed and shipped "without a frame" and with insurance and confirmation.

I've shipped across the planet with no issues. Speaking of that,
I charge a little more cost for international orders because of overseas rates, handling and customs.
